This little chipping game will add some variety to your short game practice.
You can do it solo, but it is more effective if you create a little
competition with a couple of your golfing friends.
You select one club of your choice (I suggest you select a different one
each time you play this game), plus your putter. I usually pick a specific
spot around the practice green that I will play from and try to get up and
down from that spot to each hole on the practice green. Since there are not
usually 18 holes on the practice green, once I have played to each hole from
one spot, I move to a new spot and play to each hole again. Repeat until you
have played 18 holes total. Keep track of how many times you successfully
get up and down.
If you are playing solo, then your trying to improve on that number each
time you play. If you are competing against an opponent, the person with the
most up and downs win.
Since this game is to test and improve your up and down skills, it's not
necessary to keep track of total score (you don't need to putt out if you
miss the first putt) - you either get it up and down or you don't.
If you want to add a little variety to the competition you can stipulate
that you both have to play the same club, or that you get to choose what
club your opponent plays with (this one can get interesting). |
